We cut down all the bamboo along the fence in our yard. It’s beautiful and reminds me of living in Newark, but it was full of mosquitos and we are trying to grow plants where the roots keep springing up. We cut them down to about 4-6inches first, to make it easier to move around. Then we cut them off at the base that we can see.
We’ve tried before to dig for the roots but they are very far down, and we don’t have a lot of space to dig where they are growing, between garden beds and the fence. It’s also growing on our neighbor’s side of the fence.
